Past events

Presence & Impact Workshop Mai 28, 2015

On May 28, 2015, we held the Presence & Impact workshop on communication training. During this interesting day, participants focused on the skills and behaviors needed to make every interaction have an impact on the audience. Participants explored aspects of communication that translate in values of respect, trust, credibility and integrity, all necessary for a continued career development. Special thanks to Gabriela Renggli and Matthias Anderegg from Impact for facilitating the workshop, and to Nannette Reuther from Deloitte for the wonderful location and organization!

Influencing Workshop April 8, 2015

April 8, 2015, we held another Influencing workshop. The workshop on interpersonal effectiveness with focus on style and engagement aspects of communication and leadership was attended by 20 women from Advance member companies. Participants explored aspects of communication and leadership as well as the impact of giving and receiving feedback within daily life. Special thanks to Malvika Singh from Impact for facilitating the workshop, the organizing team and the participants.

Role Model Event on March 12, 2015

On March 12, 2015, UBS hosted a Role Model Event on the important topic of: Flex work – is it a career killer? We were privileged to have Helena Trachsel, Leiterin Fachstelle für Gleichstellung von Frau und Mann des Kantons Zürich as key note speaker. She spoke about the future of flexi work, its pros and cons, how to facilitate it in companies and provided tips on how we can organize ourselves to ensure that we get the best out of it. A panel representing the variety of careers: full-time vs. part time, flex-work vs. non flex-work shared their experiences and a lively discussion followed. Special thanks to the hosts, panelists, organizing team and the participants.

Foundational Workshop February 25&26, 2015

Advance organized its Foundational Workshop on February 25 & 26 with a group of leading women from our company members. The two days workshop helped participants develop skills to support their aspirations, performance and career advancement. On the second day, participants had the pleasure and opportunity to share lunch with outstanding guests: Giulia Fitzpatrick (UBS), Valentina Sartori (McKinsey) and Rebecca Guntern (Sandoz). A big thanks goes to our coach Malvika Singh and to Karin Buissink from Credit Suisse for organizing the workshop!

Gender specific communication workshop on January 30, 2015

Advance welcomed on Friday January 30, 2015 a group of women from our member companies to an interactive workshop on how gender specific communication impacts your chances of success in an environment dominated by male players – and how to make use of these rules to your own advantage if you play them smartly. A special thanks goes to Marion Knaths, founder of sheboss, to Richard Jager, Randstad CEO, for opening the workshop and to Christiane Di Filippo, HR Director in Randstad, for organizing the event.

FUEL Workshop on Dec. 2, 2014

Fuel Your Energy Level: Capability building for rising leaders. Advance invited a group of up-and-coming leaders to an interactive workshop on energy management. It focused on how to optimize energy to become an even more impactful leader. Twenty women from our member companies came together to work together with highly skilled coaches in the fields of psychology, nutrition and exercise physiology. Participants created their own personalized 100-day energy project to enhance their energy levels for optimal performance and expanded their professional network among peers. Special thanks go to Malvika Singh from Impact and Sonja Fierz for facilitating the workshop and to Sharon Tonin from McKinsey for organizing it.

Influencing Workshop on November 19, 2014

Twenty-three women from Advance member companies came together to the Influencing workshop, with focus on interpersonal effectiveness. Participants explored aspects of communication and leadership as well as the impact of giving and receiving feedback within daily life.
Special thanks to Robert Oudmayer, CEO at Cembra Money Bank, who opened the event and warmly welcomed the participants. A big thank you goes to Malvika Singh from Impact for facilitating the workshop and to Linda Kochinky from Cembra Money Bank for organizing it. 

Role Model Event on Nov. 13, 2014

McKinsey kindly hosted the Advance Role Model Event for an exclusive fireside talk with Gina Domanig, Managing Partner of Emerald Technology Ventures. The participants took part in a lively discussion on the topic: "How to successfully navigate a male dominated business environment" with Sandra-Stella Triebl moderating the session. Many thanks to Gina and Sandra-Stella for the great evening and to Christian Casal from McKinsey for opening the event. Special thanks go to Christina Gerth and her team for the perfect organization!

Advance Foundation Workshop Sept. 18/19, 2014

UBS Business University in Altstetten kindly hosted our second Foundation Workshop with 20 amazing women from 14 different companies. It helped participants develop skills to support their aspirations, performance and career advancement. The truly outstanding guests for the lunch Q+A included Gabriele Holstein (UBS), Isabel Afonso (Sandoz), Nicole Pauli (CS), and Petra Jantzer (McKinsey). A big thank you also goes to Elmar Bielmann and his team for organizing the workshop!

Role Model Event on Sept. 10, 2014

ABB Switzerland kindly hosted our 4th Role Model Event. The participants took part in a lively discussion on the topic of: "Integration in different cultures". Many thanks to our special guests Laura Liswood, Senior Advisor at Goldman Sachs, and Barbara Frei, Group Senior Vice President at ABB Oy in Finland, for sharing their life experiences. And a big thank you to Jeannette Good and her team for organizing the evening!

Advance 100 Day FUEL Workshop on August 18, 2014: What you practise you become!

Many thanks to all who attended and inspired us at our 100 Day FUEL workshop! The progress everyone shared was truly impressive. Cross-Company Mentoring Kick-off Workshop on May 6, 2014

The kick-off event for our cross-company mentoring program was a great success. During this first get-together, the mentees gained a vivid picture of the enormous range of expertise and resources that Advance participants can share. The senior executive mentors introduced themselves with inspiring reflections on their own backgrounds and personal careers. One of the main messages to come out of the event was that mentees should “define their career not only in terms of success in the corporate system but also in terms of their own personal growth.” The introductions were followed by lively conversations between mentees and mentors, and an impressive presentation on how to create unlimited partnerships that foster development and growth. The feedback from participants was extremely positive: “It’s a marvelous network – my peer group of mentees with all their qualities and backgrounds are as important to me as my mentor."

Role Model Event on April 3, 2014

IKEA Spreitenbach kindly hosted our second edition of the "Role Modeling" program of Advance. The participants took part in a lively discussion on the topic of role models: "What obstacles have you faced in your career and how did you overcome them?". Many thanks to our special guests Beatrice Tschanz, Edit Wolf-Hunkeler and Simona Scarpaleggia for sharing their life experiences with obstacles in their careers. And a big Thank you to Katharina Schenker and her team for organising the evening!

Presence and Impact Workshop on March 6, 2014

24 amazing women from 16 Advance member companies came together to improve their presence, impact skills and behaviors. The interactive workshop gave them the opportunity to be coached and practice on the spot. "This event really exceeded my expectations,” said one participant. "I feel not only that I have learned, but more importantly that I can implement what I have learned”. Many thanks to Malvika Singh and Matt Andermatt from Impact for facilitating this workshop and to McKinsey & Company for hosting it.

Role Model Event on Dec. 9, 2013

More than 80 women gathered at the Advance Role Model Event hosted by SwissRe. The participants took part in a lively discussion on the topic of role models: What are they, how can they help us and how do we use them? During a panel discussion hosted by Nia Joynson-Romanzina (SwissRe), we heard from Isabel Afonso (Sandoz), Béatrice Fischer (CS) and Guido Fürer (SwissRe) about their experiences with role models and what it is like to be one.

Foundation Workshop on Dec. 5/6, 2013

Advance writes history - first Foundation Workshop a huge success! The Workshop was held on Thursday/Friday with 20 amazing women from 11 different companies. The workshop helped participants develop skills to support their aspirations, performance and career advancement. Lancierungs-Event ADVANCE

Am 5. September fand im Gottlieb Duttweiler Institut Rüschlikon der Lancierungs-Event von «Advance – Women in Swiss Business» statt. Das neue Firmennetzwerk setzt sich aktiv für mehr Frauen im Management von in der Schweiz tätigen Unternehmen ein. Die von Katja Stauber (SRF «Tagesschau») moderierte Veranstaltung fand vor rund 320 geladenen Gästen statt. Das grosse Interesse beweist, dass die Organisation ein zentrales Anliegen der Schweizer Wirtschaft angeht. Die Gründungsmitglieder ABB, Credit Suisse, GE Capital, IKEA, McKinsey & Company, PwC, Sandoz, Siemens und Swiss Re sowie das Ehrenmitglied Impact waren vor Ort mit mindestens je einer Vertreterin aus dem Board vertreten.
